Who would imagine the 80-20 rule would apply to death and taking care of dying parents?
After taking the photos and doing the testimonial videos at Perry Marshall’s 8020seminar.com, I am astounded to learn that the 80-20 rule applies to almost everything in life.
Now that I go back and check the records of my mom and dad’s care over 4 years, it is amazing to see that 80% of the time they were doing okay. 20% of the days were crisis days where I was making life and death decisions for them.
This epiphany really makes taking care of ill parents or family members easier. This knowledge correlates with biorhythm fluctuations. Once you know your biorhythms and those of the people you are caring for, understanding that only 20% of the time is critical to their survival, that really takes a lot of pressure off the care givers.
It also seems that my grief is only predominant 20% of the time. It is amazing there are so many people who only share their struggles with taking care of ill family members with others who have been trough the same experience. Every person I talk to that have shared this reality says, “No one understands unless they have been there and done that.”
take care,
